Church of St Michael
The church of St Michael has a 14th century chancel, 14th century south aisle with an arcade of octagonal piers, and Perp east windows. The tower, north aisle and other windows were added in the 19th century. Outside the east wall is a worn stone carved with
beast and birds from a Norman lintel. The church contains a late medieval incribed slab to a priest.
Shirley church is part of the United Benefice of Brailsford, Edlaston, Osmaston,
Shirley and Yeaveley - five churches working in close partnership, in the south
of the Derby Dales. There are a variety of services each Sunday and during
the week and you will be very welcome at any of them.
