The Other Boleyn Girl was filmed on location in Derbyshire at Haddon Hall , North Lees Hall, Dovedale , Cave Dale at Castleton and Stanage Edge during 2006.

Natalie Portman ( Anne ) and Scarlett Johansson ( Mary ) are the two sisters who become rivals for the love of King Henry VIII. Ambitious Sir Thomas Boleyn (Mark Rylance) and his even more power-crazed brother, the Duke of Norfolk (David Morrissey) encourage daughter Anne to seduce the king in order to gain power and influence for the family.

But Henry (Eric Bana) takes a shine instead to younger sister Mary who, despite being married, obligingly bears him a child. This makes Anne even more determined and she embarks on a pitch for the throne which is to prove fateful for her family, her country and her own life.

The Other Boleyn Girl was directed by Justin Chadwick. Whilst on location in Derbyshire many main members of the cast and crew stayed at The Peacock Hotel in Rowsley.

Other locations for the film were Great Chalfield Manor near Bath, Lacock Abbey , Saint Bartholomew's Church in the Smithfield area of London , Dover Castle. and Knole House in Kent.

The Other Boleyn Girl was released in cinemas in March 2008.
