Derby Guide - Guide to the City of Derby in Derbyshire
The Church of St Giles is situated in Village Street Normanton in Derby.
The present St Gile's Church dates from 1862, built on the site of a much older structure. It had to be extended in 1893 and again in 1902-03, when a new nave and chancel were added to make the building it's present size.
Items of interest within the church include a Norman tympanum from the old church together with numerous memorials, plaques and other relics of the Sherwood Foresters based at the former Normanton Barracks and whose regimental garrison church this was.
